Hey just a heads up to all iPad folks, once you upgrade to IpadOS 18.3.2 it WILL switch Apple Intelligence back on so you might wanna check that and switch it off again.

What bugs me apart from it repeatedly turning back on, even when an update hasn’t been applied, is that I keep being offered/reminded about the AI stuff (and Siri) in pops at the top of the settings page.
I don’t want the AI stuff or Siri. Stop doing that.
Nothing is wrong with it. I rely on it a lot. Being able to flub a sentence while asking something and having it understand what I wanted to say is the most useful thing, to be honest
And some of the image playground stuff using photos of friends is fun.
Half-baked bloatware. You have to ask whether your IA-driven phone can do very much at all when you have no cell data or internet access? In times of emergency or in remote places I want to be able to access data on my phone.
I’m curious if the desire for disabling it is based on misinformation or just a concern about the quality/functionality. Weird, I know, but I’m on the internet and not here to argue, just gathering information.
I suspect misinformation, to be honest. I had an uncle that showed my mom during a family reunion how to save space on a digital camera by using low quality images, but the quality from that particular event are garbage.
To me, not using Apple Intelligence is like not wearing anti-slip shoes on ice
Honestly the photos analysis on a massive library is one of the best features so far “sho me images from the last time I was at this thrift store”… boom. I can see what I didn’t purchase and if they lowered the price since then.
If your IPad supports Apple Intelligence, you’ll see it in Settings ‘Apple Intelligence & Siri’. Tap that and make sure it’s turned OFF if you don’t want it. If you don’t see it, congrats, your iPad isn’t new enough to use it.
I’m curious as to why everyone wants to turn it off. I don’t use any of the features beyond notification summaries, but I haven’t gone in to turn anything else off either.
I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPad mini 7th gen.
Not all of us hate it. Siri sounds better, more emotive on responses, and actually says “you’re welcome” or “my pleasure” when you say “thank you” like a polite Canadian.
It’s just another form of corporate surveillance and data/AI scraping which most of us honestly do not want on our devices. No one’s gonna judge if you want to leave it on and use it *shrug*
I don’t suppose you know how to get rid of the Open Image Playground that’s now permanently STUCK in my settings unless I open it which I don’t want to do?
The whole reason I got apple products was it was supposed to be more secure, that it was private and that they would never invade your privacy unless you opted in.
The Tooth Fairy and Santa Clauss, they do not exist, you know ? WAKY WAKY, spend one third that money on Xiaomi and get the same specs and performance, use the other two thirds to travel or be happier

It’s surprising what little requests make it into the system during updates.
And some of the image playground stuff using photos of friends is fun.
But hey, everyone has the right to complain
To be honest, not necessarily any of our business why someone wants to do something.
