He went after Action News because he didn't like their coverage of the presidential debate. And he went after NBC multiple times. And has threatened to pull their local broadcast licenses if they don't kiss his arse. Walter Cronkite and Edward R. Murrow turn in their graves.

The media helped create this problem by glad-handing him and refusing to call him a liar or hold him accountable or even dispute his characterization of them & their work.

After WaPo published the Pentagon Papers, 15 other newspapers followed, including Boston Globe, Chicago Sun-Times, & St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Lawyer Edward Bennett Williams advised WaPo to go ahead and publish. “What’s Nixon going to do? Put every major editor and publisher in jail?”
