Exactly this! We haven't "gone too far" in teaching the actual history of this country. White conservatives have simply always opposed & sought to destroy education & equality bc they view them as an existential threat to their systems of plunder & power.

I just mentioned this in my undergrad class on Monday. Students eyes lit up because they realized the current mass censorship of ideas of Black freedom had roots and precedents going back centuries.
