As an art teacher, I am really feeling this. It’s easier with my younger students who are more removed from the Horrors, but my teens are acutely aware. It’s rough out there, but their awareness does give me hope that things will change.

Is it a bad time to get into creative fields? Probably.

Has it literally ever been advised in my entire life to get into creative fields? Also no.

I'm not going to claim now is a good time to get into any creative field, but I really don't think advising people to give up is a good idea

I am in a field that is currently under attack by extremely wealthy people who only see art as a money-maker and actors as unnecessary expenses.

Even ignoring that, to get good sound, to get noticed, you've gotta put in a lot of money and time in that you quite probably may not see back.

But even still, you persevere if you love it.

Most people, as far as I know, have to do the "day job to pay bills, VO on the side for fun" grind.

And while I wish it was more feasible for more people to do VO full time (myself included), I'd never tell someone not to pursue it.

I hope things get better across the board, and I really hope (as many do) that the whole A/I thing goes belly up. I don't know what the future looks like.

But, I know today, I enjoy doing VO, and I will continue doing it until I am no longer physically able. That's the best I've got.

So, if anyone wants to get into VO and they're really passionate, I will always try to give the best advice I can on how to reach whatever goals they set, and I will wish them luck in doing so.

Life is cruel and too short. We may as well try to do the thing that brings us the most joy.

I can agree on that sentiment. Even tho life RN isn't the best it's not dimming my love for VO it's actually helped me out more though acting these emotions out. I love doing it for the art.
