In response to threats to repeal the Affordable Care Act in 2017, our families organized and shared our personal health care stories to highlight how Medicaid helps medically complex kids live at home with their families instead of risk being institutionalized.

Alongside countless health care advocates in 2017, we shared how the ACA protects those with pre-existing conditions from being denied care or charged more $. The ACA also banned annual/lifetime limits, meaning our kids won't lose coverage when they need it most.

We fought, and we won in 2017. We saved the ACA, and we saved Medicaid! And we showed up again and again (and again) to fight back against the Trump administration's actions that threatened our health care.
We will keep fighting back, and we know we can win again.

This time, it is not just our children's health care that we are fighting for. Trump has been vocal about dismantling the Department of Education, which could be catastrophic for disabled students with IEPs and section 504 plans who risk losing their legal right to a public education.

We’re all living a dystopian nightmare, but you guys with disabled children must really be going through hell. I’m so sorry. I think in the blue States, the Governors will try to help as much as possible. I have no idea what will happen to handicapped children in red states. It’s so awful. ☮️😔
