Also the distraction form of "escapist" art is commodified, i.e. something the oppressors can sell to you. Like when billion dollar companies make shows/movies about anticapitalism. *cough cough* squid games *cough cough cough*

And then it turns out the conditions under which the escapist art is made don't benefit the artists at all, and that THEREFORE they can be roped into doing a second season however much they don't want to.
And, idk, maybe it's not chill to say anymore, but I kinda believe artists have a duty to humanity to think about stuff like that. That the whole thing about art. We make observations and then put those back out into the world in a new form; a painting, a song, a embroidery, etc.
10000% ageed. I belive it's my job, duty and calling to tell stories that call on a vision of a future, that call on ways we can fight back, that bring up the ways we can love, that fuel a fight for visions yet unseen.
