I don’t think the Democratic Party has abandoned the working class, but I think Trump, Fox, et al. have convinced people that Dems have abandoned them.

NAFTA. CAFTA. Welfare “reform.” The TTP didn’t pass. Bank deregulation. Bailing out banks and billionaires while millions of working class people lost their homes in 2008. Minimum wage is still $7.50. Biden broke the rail workers strike. I can do go on…
Bush did what, in 2008?
The railunion agreed to "an immediate 14% wage increase;24% salary increase over five years, plus one day of paid leave per year." Instead of devastating the US economy.
I also think woke and DEI has steered the left away from the primary constraint, which is exploitation of the working, no-collar and middle class. We should all be locked arm in arm. Bernie made a lot of progress in 2016. Elizabeth Warren shared carrying that torch in 2020 (albeit, less effectively)
“Woke” and DEI are invented nonsense that are coded for being racist and anti-queer. Most working class people are of color now. Queer people exist in every class. I agree that Dems should focus on material improvements for the 90% but they don’t bc it would anger their donors.
