To be fair, there is no quick fix to creating a #PositiveResearchCulture. You need leaders with #empathy set the foundations and team members with #respect build upon them. Our article focuses on actionable items that drive #researchculture, and how to ensure #policy synergises with #values.

First, #PositiveResearchCulture is not simply having policies against toxic behaviour. The "pyramid of respect" is built on individual integrity, especially in leadership. We need to actively build respect and positive intervention strategies. Don't waiting until toxicity emerges to tackle it.

The next theme is #openess and #transparency. Emphasize the value of #reproducible data, resource #sharing, #recognition of contribution, and early and bidirectional #outreach to the community. These values need to feed back into #hiring and #promotions to show that they are actual values!
