They do not believe in any “neutral” principles (e.g., 80 is too old to be president) that can be applied regardless of party. Every atom of reality must be exploited and contested in a zero-sum contest.

I point this out because some people will try to say "OMG, look what Trump has done to corrupt the American conservative movement such that he could unconstitutionally run for a 3rd term!" But this push is being made by an institution with a 50+ year history in the GOP & the conservative movement.

Michelle Nickerson's Mothers of Conservativism is a great resource about these book clubs and women's networks and how they pushed the GOP towards the Goldwater/Reagan/Buchanan track that lead the GOP to where it is today.
