If we look at market activity, *someone* is making a killing anticipating both tariff announcements and retractions.

It may not be Trump. It could just be who he blusters to at Mar Lardo.

It’s also the result of being rich enough that no matter what you do you’re personally insulated from the shock. Policy is “gamefied” because he has no contact with anyone who isn’t at least a multi millionaire, and much of his contact with humans is with billionaires (nearly his entire cabinet)

His opinion on tariffs seems to have been formed back in the 80s, when Dems were pushing for them as protection for American industry and jobs against cheaper foreign products flooding the markets. And a lot of that sentiment was just straight-up racism against Japan.
