Here’s some photos of a bittern I took at RSPB Dungeness. Bitterns are often seen standing stock still with just the tip of their beaks under the water. See last photo. I wonder if they can sense the movement of fish?

I've thought in the past what they are doing is a kind of baiting... Like the Green Heron that drop leaves... Moving the water slightly to attract the fish towards them... Then seeing and sensing when they are closer
