This is a lesson only the consumers can fix for themselves. This issue is not new, yet so many people continue to use consoles that treat you like the product. And, paying for online???? Give me a break. #psn

If you have the OG PS5 and a game on disc, then no. If you downloaded the game or updated a disc one beforehand, then yes.

If you already have “play games offline / allow guests to play games from primary account” active, then you’re golden on digital games too…for now. Once you hit the licensing authentication renewal threshold, all accounts will be locked out of playing digital titles.

In the end, all this has done is reaffirm my continued shift towards Steam. Sony doesn’t offer good value. They offer more paywalls for lower quality experience, and this outage is proving that this is the case moreso now than ever before.
