It isn't but when you go to bed with the afd, mention remigration, and further, he even specifically proposed a law for the deportation of immigrants, he tried to take down the Brandmauer and if he wouldn't have been stopped right there, we know where that would have taken Germany, hence the jab.

Lets hope that he does actually believe in a stronger Europe and is sensible enough to listen to people who know what they are doing.

I am pessimistic though as I agree that his personal political believe seems to be fairly limited to "I should be Chancellor"

I find his credibility is not very high regarding Europe, certainly since he came with this idiotic anti migration proposal, where it had not occurred to him that it was breaking european law, and he then reacted like 'so what'. German commitment to Europe is dangerously shrinking.

Hard to see how this will be more than enhanced coordination. He's already promised expenses/tax cuts to the tune of 100 billion Euros, is against reforming the debt brake and doesn't want more common borrowing in the EU (afaik).

And much of his industrial strategy is "back to fossil fuels".

I am not German, so I can not comment on his views on internal politics but I have to agree with his views for Europe. We are in bad need of leadership right now.
