I could easily see it as a BBC period drama, and though it hits a lot of the story beats you expect from this sort of thing it does it well. An example is Prince Hakim, a character that quickly develops from culture clash comic relief to a counterpoint to the rigid Victorian class structure - ThreadSky

The main issue with this release is that it's crying out for an English dub, although Nozomi did later crowdfund one I have the earlier sub only release. It is also actually the first half of the series, so it ends on a cliffhanger. Not sure if i can even see season 2 since the rights have lapsed 😭

Didn't really know what to expect from this, but it's been interesting so far. Has a very retro anime vibe and takes some heavy inspiration from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, but its tone is a bit erratic, jumping from naval combat to hijinks with kids who look like press-ganged Pokemon trainers

This one was a two episode OVA, the second one is much more action packed than the first but kind of rushes towards a bit of a nothing conclusion. There's a lot more story that's referred to but not fleshed out and there's no resolution. What's here is pretty tense though, it just feels a bit short

I did enjoy it overall though, just a shame there were only two episodes so many, many plot threads are left dangling. Visually pretty good too, just weird how the characters all look like they're from different shows

Week 6 - Crying Freeman

Going back in time a bit with this one, remember seeing the old Manga Video VHS on the shelves back in the day but it was never one I picked up. It didn't get a UK DVD release so this is the US one from ADV Films, sadly missing the UK dub but I can't have it all I suppose
