The heater was $300+auction fees. The install was $1900 for new plumbing and electrical work for the backup element connection.

how long did they last? i read on another site, not the other bad one, that many have issues with the tingle unit heat pumps, but the split system version seem to last a lot longer

About 7 years was when I gave up. The warranty was 5 years but the company went bust after 2 years that made them.I was changing compressors every 2 years and then even less. In the end it just ran constantly. It was costing a fortune to run.

oh no. was it the same brand? we dont plan on being in this house much longer, so had to replace the leaking old one before sale. so we will have to get another one for the new property.

A German brand
Was fantastic till it blew😱
Side welds failed
Had to back to standard electric till we can afford a new heat pump hws
Still our Nissan Leaf after 10 years is fine !

Its a Midea RSJ-23/300 model. from reading on internet, cheap Chinese rebrand to Chromagen in Australia, known for being noisy, which in our case, doesn't matter as it sits next to 3 other air con systems. retails for #3700
