There seem to be a few explanations for this--MeToo, Andrew Tate, anti-trans politics, Dobbs, etc. Perhaps even the "feminizing" effects of the pandemic

Cant speak to it all but I do know that fox news did push for SPIRONOLACTONE for covid for a short time. Because their doctor quack they had on saw data that covid hit men much harder than women and he posited that spiro could make the difference for men. (And can cause feminization)
Not a meritocracy. It is obvious they want to reduce the supply of talented people so they do not have to compete. It is basic economics. The liberal media won’t say this because we are too nice.
So, the explanation is that women, who overall are better educated and can adjust to change with more ease, and are therefore more successful, should be rid of that success because they are a threat to the power of men.
To achieve this, we will turn society back to 1870. So, no adjustment needed.
SMH. I'm old enough to remember when married women couldn't get their own bank accounts or credit cards. Couldn't hold but a few types of jobs. We worked too hard to go backwards!
You forgot the very obvious, disinformation that is rotting their brains and thinking they have carte blanche to spew their religious zealotry on everyone in the country now.
Weirdly, some of those Republican women who believe women should return to their traditional role in society are serving in Congress. “Subservience for thee but not for me.”
I'd simply argue that "more Republican men" feel free to be openly honest about the opinions they'd previously repressed. It's also why they don't bother covering their faces when they throw up a Nazi salute on Reels.
The issue with this statement is that Republican men are entitled to their opinions. What they *can't* do is impose those beliefs on women. Any other framing only serves to reinforce their misguided ideology.
Hmm, funny that no one polls American MEN to find out how they feel about returning to their "traditional" roles as responsible husbands, fathers, volunteers in their communities. 🤔
Guess *maturing* and *growing up* and *being responsible* aren't part of the MAGA Bro lexicon.
Which is ridiculous because that's mostly hitting the 15-25 year old women that will find themselves abused with children before they wake up and realize a TT trend ruined their lives.
Putting the massive misogyny to one side, I wonder what percentage of those republican men could afford to keep the house running without their partner's income...
Be interesting to see the vote results split by parents of only boys Vs parents of girls/both, too.
This is interesting considering how much the shift occurs in the last two years - by then the pandemic waned, MeToo was a faded memory, Dobbs actually produced a backlash, Andrew Tate had lost millions of subscribers, and well, trans panic was at an all time high?
Could be a very profound realignment on gender attitudes - people with trad views of gender identify move out of Independent identity and move into Republicans, people with less trad views move out.
This is fascinating. I've suspected that much of the trans hate was driven by men trying to prove their masculinity. Too many of them also think 'being a man' means dominating and 'putting women in their place.'

It’s just such a mystery.
