The obnoxious part is they're completely wrong about that. Being pro-trans rights has been a winning position for Dems, and being anti-trans rights has been a losing position. No one who cares about human rights is going to be happy to vote for a party that throws a minority under the bus.

The issue as I see it is that it is the slow creep the hate orgs did. They start with children. Ignorance played into that. People felt for kids. They have no idea we go through as children. The dysphoria and dysmorphia. Then they carve out girls sports. Those two things really gave the handhold.

Understand trans people requires empathy for us. Used to be that 80% of people don’t know a trans person. It’s one of the reasons I am openly trans. People need more trans interaction, see we are not the awful things they hear. I try to change minds as often as possible.

yes. empathy becomes easier when you know someone who is trans. knowing a real flesh and blood person and being able to hear what they have experienced can make an enormous difference for most people. talking to a trans friend - hearing what she experienced and felt - opened my mind.

To clarify, it was not even voted on. It was allowed to be added to the schedule to be voted on. As the article says, usually Dems veto bills like this from even being added to the agenda. It also states that it is unlikely to even make it to the voting stage. This will never pass.
