From my understanding its like a group of friends doing pretend but they’re managers of football teams.

Either way Blood Bowl is better. Its ACTUAL fantasy football. As in football. In a fantasy setting.

It's more alternate reality fic than fantasy. As mentioned, you take players from the league and make them into your own team, then by some weird formulae figure out how they would have done. Which ignores all the actual factors that go into how football actually works, so there's the fantasy maybe?

Pretty much. It's basically just a gambling game where you draft a virtual team of real football players, then you're scored based on how well their IRL counterparts do in the year's season.
