$. Disney (and many pros companies) hire motion effect companies for fight scenes because most motion effect companies are unionized. These companies agree to a flat rate and then Disney or whoever can work them into the ground without worrying about extra charges for OT.
To shoot a fight scene not using cgi, you have to hire a choreographer, pay for rehearsals, pay for additional shoot days (complex scenes require lots of filming bc mistakes will be made), practical effects, practical sets to be built, etc - and all of that is union work
Union work limits the hours in a day you can spend working, forces time-and-a-half or double time pay OT for the limited number of extra hours workers are allowed to work, and forces companies to pay high rates. So in the end it is much cheaper to artificially build a whole scene in a computer
It looked really awful, especially compared to the first fight from the original Netflix series, the one in the corridor, it was so well choreographed and brutal.
