I don't mean that metaphorically. All of this happened at the behest of tech oligarchs & the politicians they own. This wasn't a difference in ideology (not that the TikTok ban is "worse" than reproductive rights). This was a failure of the checks & balances between ALL branches of the federal gov't

The TikTok ban wasn't kicked down to "states' rights". It didn't get a reprieve from the NINETY NINE SENATORS WHO SAID "YEAH, WE CAN THINK THIS OVER AGAIN". It looks like Byte Dance will seel TikTok to Meta, which makes it even worse. I feel paralyzed by the anger and sadness I feel.

This was it. This was the actual final loss that has made clear to me the future of America and likely the entire planet. I was an eternal optimist before yesterday. Progress always marches forward, right? But progress was never up against a world like this.

I live at the top of a hill next to a lake surrounded by a nature preserve where every single sunrise & sunset is so achingly beautiful I can't believe they have always been. God is trailing fingertips along the sky's edges. I can't lose this feeling. I want to leave *this* world for my children.
