I don't see any current reason to hunt them in the US. It's not a population/disease control issue like Whitetail Deer. Coyotes, wolves, bald eagles (among a few others) keep the fox population in check.
I live in an agricultural rural area. I have seen on our community page that some people with hens will shoot foxes for being on their property. Some hen owners wonβt until a fox causes harm.
I love our fox & wildlife and we leave out water bowls & sometimes toss unused fruits & veggies for them.
No animal should be hunted for sport. None. Itβs one thing to hunt to feed your family, but killing another living being just for fun? Doesnβt it show a complete lack of respect for life?
