Snake Pass may be closed to cars. If any UK motorists have driven it, they’ll know that the scenery is spectacular, but in winter there’s a fifty-fifty chance you come out the other side alive.

A good read. Thanks for that. I know the area - fabulous countryside. It would be a great shame if the road closed, but it does seem that the problems are beyond one county to fix.
Big issue with a closure is the amount of extra traffic that then spills onto other small roads. All those cars will try and get through Hope/Castleton instead, and the cycle repeats itself. Simply too many cars on the roads.
id much prefer it if people just said heavy cars rather than EVs. The number of range rovers and inappropriate size vehicles in Hope and Castleton over this last weekend was noticeable. When someone says EV in regard to weight they just look daft
It's where ever Beamer Boy and Audi Arsehole comes to test himself against the cambers. Perfectly drivable without them, but you're never without them.
Brilliant cycle ride, unfortunately too dangerous today with all the heavy traffic. This would be an interesting change, the Woodhead pass couldn't hande the extra traffic, the hgvs would have to go the long way around the motorways. Do it
First time I drove it was at night and I had a lovely time looking at the stars. When I returned the next day in daylight I nearly had a heart attack realising how treacherous some of the bends I'd cheerfully dashed round were...
