Hello #revpit lovelies! I'm here for my #MeetTheEditor! I see some of you have already left me questions so I will make my way through those after a little introduction. @reviseresub.bsky.social

Thanks for answering our questions! As a #RevPit veteran editor, do you often see a similar pattern of developmental problems - like unstable character arcs or pacing issues - that draw you in to nab an author's story? #emdashaddictsunite
Cute dog (I'm a sucker; had 4).
I've got a cozy w/three seniors in a retirement villa. No murders (kinda icky for seniors to "go there") but petty crimes lead to two kidnappings. Trio hones their skills watching old Britbox mysteries (they don't get out much). Lotsa dialogue. Possibilities?
Has potential. My concern would be that there is enough tension and stakes without murder or other serious crime. Can be done well, definitely.

Hey! First, thank you so much for volunteering your time :) I noted you don't like books with heavy references to cancer; would another terminal illness be okay for you as a sub plot?
As a person:
-chaotic (good/neutral/evil, you decide)
-chronic overthinker (why these skeets take so long)
-like to have a plan but it's sometimes overwhelming to make the plan, so I wing it
Fav song to sing at max volume: Alone by Heart
Fav cookie: snickerdoodle
My dog:

As an editor:
-chaotic on my end but I present an organized front
-easily swayed by vibes
-I edit and read a lot of stuff, but the main theme is: no sad endings. Check out my #MSWL on the #revpit website.
-Oxford comma enthusiast, will never be convinced otherwise
I'm looking to submit an Adult Urban Fantasy about a FMC on a revenge path to defeat the vampire that compelled her to kill her best friend. It is dark and grorey at times (as it shifts into cosmic horror). Does this sound like something you'd be interested in?
It's New Adult UF with horror and romance elements. I'm comp'ing it with SUPERNATURAL × NINTH HOUSE but fans of buffy, vampire Academy/diaries, morganville etc (all too old of comps to use nowadays) would love this story as well.
Depends. For trad pub, it's really hard to sell a debut over 115k, even in fantasy. So that's the word count I'd be aiming for. If you aren't looking to cut, I'm probably not a good fit.

Hi! My MS is way above industry standard and I know it’s one of the main issues I need to fix, but… what’s the highest WC you’d be willing to consider for Adult Contemporary Romance?
Comments
1. What are some favorite recent romcoms you've read?
2. I know my contemporary romcom MS is on the longer side -- 95K. Hoping to cut but looking for some direction. Is that too long for you?

In the editing process how do you deal with stories that may need more scenes/depth added rather than removed?
What are some cozies (fantasy + mystery) you’ve liked recently?

1. Dual timelines in contemporary romance. What makes them work?
2. What contemporary romance settings do you like / dislike / want to see that you haven’t yet?
3. What’s a YA book you would love to see as an adult story?
