I look back to how things were 12 years ago and then I look round my school now. Completely different. Getting rid of the 3 times a year observations and focusing on good behaviour and consistent, teacher-led lessons has made a world of difference.

I was reflecting on this yesterday with ITTs - we have 2 data drops per year per year group (staggered e.g
Y7 Cycle 1 / Y8 Cycle 2), minimal written feedback, no nonsense "hooks" etc. I trained in the era of flight plans, colourful trackers, marking all books every 2 weeks. Definitely better now!

I am so happy to not be teaching at the time that I went to school. Looking back there was a lot of nonsense. We all did a VARK test to find out what kind of learner we were. I am so glad nobody has ever asked me to conduct a similar test with my classes

I think there are some big differences between the US and UK. There is a lot of excitement here about 21st Century skills and project-based learning.
