Made my first chili last week. Put the beans in the blender. Better texture. They never know theyβre eating beans. Love the multiple servings strategy.
Comfort food time! Just found out regional Medicare reimbursement for PT 2025 will be on par w/ 1994, not adjusted for inflation. Private insurers havenβt given small PT practices a raise in reimbursement in decades either. United Healthcare reimbursement in 2002 = $70/visit. 2024 = $70/visit.
I exclusively use Gebhardts. It just doesnβt taste right, otherwise. And, I donβt try to make my chili as hot as the surface of the sun. A basic chili with good flavor. Thatβs the ticket.
Nice! For me, it's various things-- red beans & rice w/pork, curry chicken, and jerk chicken. Nice to get home from, put a meal on slow heat, and by the time I dry off from my shower, have a hot tasty meal ready to eat.
Oh hell yes. This is happening in my house on Friday and I canβt wait to eat it again the following Tuesday. The longer it sits in the fridge the better it gets.
We usually have friends over on Saturday evenings for βjam night.β Everyone brings their instrument and we cook for them, then play music afterwards.
Chilis, soups, and stews are always popular - especially when coupled with my βcrack cornbread.β
Made mine on Sunday. Iβm single so I freeze single servings to eat. Will make another batch over thanksgiving.
Still not cold in Dallas butβ¦β¦.lol
Beat ya! πMade my 1st pot 2 weeks ago the first time the temp fell to 29 degrees in SE KS. It was delicious because I got to add kidney beans. Would take my husband back from wherever his soul ended up over the kidney beans he hated though!
Yes, I agree!! Halloween used to kick off chili season for our family when our kids were growing up, (our home was the gathering place to eat for the neighborhood trick or treaters) but since then, I became plant based and itβs my go to meal!! Iβve tweaked the old recipe. π
Having four other adults I cook for has killed my strategic leftovers game. I make stuff like soups and stews in an 8 qt Dutch oven and *still* canβt get ahead. Itβs flattering BUT Iβm exhausted and out of enthusiasm.
I made my first kettle of soup this past weekend, bought a freezer to store it. This is the time to be the squirrel, especially if/when those pesky tariffs start raising grocery prices. Chili is next on my list.
Ooohh nice! Itβs supposed to rain all weekend, I think chili will hit the spot. My better half already made two big pots of homemade soup this past week. Italian meatball and chicken noodle. Delicious!!
One of the best things about cooler weather is the soups, stews, and other one pot carefully prepared meals that last for multiple meals, and are glorious every time.
Iβm in South Africa and we are going into summer. Iβm still determined to make soups and chili because itβs all I see these days on social media and who says it has to be cold to have soup and chili? π
Chili always tastes better to me on the second day. I'll make a batch and then wait till the next day to serve it. It gives the flavors more time to blend. Thank you--- you made me want to make some chili and some cornbread. β€οΈ
I have almost everything I need to make a pot of chili. But at the moment, my "chili" pot has beef vegetable soup in it. So, after the beef-vegetable soup is gone, chili. Or maybe beef stew with herb drop-dumplings. I haven't decided.
I'm a huge fan of chili, and IDGAF, I make it all year long. I usually get 8-10 container's worth that I put in the freezer so I can grab one for lunch. Serious question...beans or no? I love beans in my chili. I make no apologies.
I enjoy this too and freeze leftoversπ Iβm sure your fingers are worn to the nub, but weβre mutuals on the other place and hope you will follow back!
Nov 6th I made goulash.
Talking to my neighbors and she was making white chili.
The next day we did a comfort food exchange. π²
Yummy.
I never heard of white chili until she gave some to me a couple years ago.
Enjoy.

I froze some to bring to Mom next week. Still have loads left.
Tonight is chili baked taters.
Might freeze the rest after that.
5 consecutive chili meals is kind of my limit.
Can be a main or a side for the next lazy few weeks.
I simply have to snap out of this.

Did white bean and kale on the weekend. Chili is next

(And also, things that freeze/reheat well.)
Chili sounds good, too!
Our diner has
Chili (in season)
on the menu.
Yes. Diner. Singular.
If it were 80Β°F and humid, you'd go Ewwww ... π
... but when it's 40Β°F out, it's irresistible. π
I like to make meals that I can turn into leftover pies!!
Chilli con carne pies
Spag bol pies
Goulash pies
Lamb and potato pies
Oh, now I want to make pies π₯§ π€€π
I call it my βstarterβ.
