I knew this in the late 90s - worked for a government contractor in Crystal City, across the way was the Pentagon. As 20-something-year-olds, we checked out a fallout website, knew we were toast. Where I live now, I’d probably survive a few weeks as a zombie with peeling skin. I’d drive closer TBH.

If we survive the blasts, there’s a good chance we could survive longer term.

Minor fallout but about an hour from none, and there is only more nothing beyond that all the way to Canada if it comes to it.
