While you’re at it, could you fix all the verbiage at Appomattox National Park? It is very outdated and fails to explain that slaves were held as a commodity not for their owner’s labor needs. Their owners sent them to work for others and kept their pay. They were owned like we own securities today.

And this is an example of how the literature at Appomattox should be written at the place where Lee and Grant met. The house was owned by a guy who owned slaves to merely store wealth. He did not need or use their labor himself. They were collateral or a commodity.

“Rented equipment” is exactly how business schools define people. As a history student who studied labor movements it was so thoroughly at odds with what I was learning. Human labor created human history. It was always about people and individuals joining together.
