Americans hate everything bicycle. They hate that some of us like to ride bikes to work. They thinks bicycles should not be on a road. They don’t want money spent on trail systems and bike lanes. I’m not kidding!

Also Americans will go somewhere walkable or bikeable, like Europe or Disney World, comment about how quaint and nice it was to walk everywhere, but will have a conniption fit if someone tries to build a bike lane in their hometown.
To be honest I sometimes have a similar feeling in the US. It’s kind of fun how you can drive and park everywhere so easily there. But I wouldn’t like it here in the Netherlands. The distances are so alienating and I wouldn’t walk/cycle enough to keep healthy
msm and the automotive industry has spend decades selling the idea that owning your own car equals freedom, and without your own car, you haven't actually "grown up"
its not something that's going to fade away quickly, not when it keeps getting reinforced
Yeah I get that. But there are other means of transportation out there. Doesn’t mean that we can’t have infrastructure for walkers, cyclists, busses, trains and taxis that coexist.
i'd argue that a majority of americans are mostly neutral on the issue and some vocal high school bullies (regardless of age) account for "americans who hate bikes"

Zelfs in Haarlem gaat het helaas al niet meer zo. Dat was wel even wennen, toen ik van Amsterdam naar Haarlem verhuisde.
