Until and unless the Republic is formally dissolved, we do have recourse to a Constitutional solution to our current crisis-- the Congressional trial and conviction of the President. #16People #Resistance

What it will involve, though, is for those who see the need for it to adopt a much more generous and gracious stance towards those who voted for the President than they might otherwise be inclined to. #16People #Resistance
It will involve the former saying to the latter not "You reap what you sow" but "Thanks for joining us." It will involve a spirit of generosity that worries less about whether their fellow citizens "get what's coming to them" and more about us ALL getting something better. #16People #Resistance
It will involve less "I told you so" and more "Welcome." We will all have to change our minds--some, about what the truth and the common good is, others, about faith in the possibility of such change. #16People #Resistance
Then we will have to either convince more of our elected representatives likewise or replace them in 2026. We will need the 218 votes in the House to impeach this President yet again, and then we will need the 60 votes in the Senate to convict him finally. #16People #Resistance
The President is a poster child for a Clear and Present Danger to the Republic. The charges (and many are possible) are almost beside the point. #16People #Resistance
He may be immune to prosecution, but the unified action of 278 of our elected representatives remains a legal Constitutional solution to the danger of the current administration. #16People #Resistance
I agree. Yet there is one flaw. It takes only a few months to dismantle institutions or to render them obsolete. By 2026 Senat and House either will not have the power and influence anymore to turn the ship around and/or the outcome of elections will no longer represent the will of the majority.
