Absolutely. I'm currently playing around with some mods for Birth of the Federation, an old Star Trek 4x strategy game. They've fixed a ton of bugs from the original game and just made it overall better.

Yeah, this holds true for romhacks. I wish I had the original hardware but crt filters and filters that emulated the original screens are pretty nice.
