Reimu (Marisa for me I played as Reimu/Yukari my first run) was such a huge jump in difficulty from Keine, even on Normal mode

Yeah, those 2 as well as Marisa and Alice fight Reimu at stage 4, and she's so far the second hardest stage 4 boss (Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom moment), with reimu & Yukari and Youmu & Yuyuko fighting Marisa instead, who is easier, but not by too much.
You pretty much have only 1 continue at base,-

since 5 AM is a game over immediately, and the only way to get more, is by amassing points by grazing when the human and youkai gauage is 80% or more on the youkai side, or by attacking enemies when its 80% or more on the human side.
The difficulty spike with Reimu is hella nasty on a blind run,-

but at least on a 2° one, it should be easier to ammass bombs and also continues in case you need them.
