Yet they claim Biden’s FEMA wasn't doing squat. Compare and contrast to their wanting to getting rid of the agency completely and it all makes sense. Or does it?

🧵 Went out to WNC three times. Right up into the heart of Trump country. Avery County. 46% of children on Medicaid which supports a much needed local hospital. All schools in the county are Title I. Median income is $57,000. AFTER the hurricane, the NCGA gave most of the state surplus to fund
school vouchers. Avery County has two private schools - both religious. One enrolls 103 children, the other has an enrollment of 3 kids (yes, you read that right) AFTER the #NCGA appropriated that voucher 💰, they appropriated 💰 for WNC. The priority was killing public schools before helping
desperate people. When I went up at the end of February, people still needed help with basic necessities. The only supermarket in the county was only 1/2 operational. And the largest food bank in the area had a $1.3 million cut in federal funding. The little town of Minneapolis had just started
to have major piles of debris in the stream that runs through town cleaned up. It had sat there since the end of September. #chuckedwards, their congressional rep (R) was really great after the storm. But eventually, he too capitulated, and voted for a federal budget that may really devastate this
county. They have now, by my reckoning, been worked over three times. (I’m trying to be polite). I understand that they voted Republican. But there are children up there that I think about. It makes me absolutely furious. @ncgovernor.bsky.social
