I think there’s a lot of revisionism going on re: Isak. He was obviously good but stagnated slightly when we were linked (January 2022) - ended the season with six goals in 32 appearances and injury issues.
Arsenal would have been weary of another big splash after Pepe, as well.

It's clear we haven't spent enough (or well enough) on attacking talent under Arteta.
And would say it cost us T4 that season, though hard to take too much issue with how well we recruited for 22/23.
We just don't do it in the market for attackers.
But you are right. Jota, Gakpo and Diaz have all been somewhat successful. But they will have real issues replacing Salah.
That season where Isak only scored 6 goals & his injury record were my main reservations when Arsenal were originally linked.
Fans are being disingenuous if they claim they would’ve been happy for us to pay his release clause at the time.
But your point is absolutely fair. He scored 10 goals in his first season in England and shared time with Callum Wilson. He’d have been labelled an injury prone flop at that stage.
He at least seems to be able to find the net and wouldn't demand 300k a week.
But as this thread shows, you just can't tell how someone is going to turn out.
Nevertheless, there's 1,000's we might have got before being outpriced. I'd rather focus on the next one. There's always an alternative, the key is nailing it
Easier said than done, obvs 😀
I mean, why did we fucking sign Sterling if he doesn't even get picked??
Clearly he was an Edu-driven signing and Arteta was forced to go along with it?
Would take either now!
