1/3 of the country voted for this, and 1/3 didn't care enough to vote. I work in manufacturing with people from all political spectrums, and I'll tell you that not a one of them will participate in a general strike. They would be fired immediately with no access to unemployment.

What I and a number of left leaning people I know are doing is more personal. Little to no travel, shopping local for necessities, boycotting large retailers, canceling credit, META, Amazon, and Google accounts. It's a "Starve the Rich" approach, cutting them off from our money and data.

We do not have the organizational or numerical strength for a national general strike. Unions have been severely gutted the last half century, and while we could cause some damage, I don’t think there’d be enough momentum to effect change.

It’s worth it to still try; I’m going to try to align the end on my unions contract with 4/31/28 in case the UAW suggested general strike happens. But there’s a ton of education, motivation, groundwork, funding and more to even make that possible. You can’t just declare one; maybe once, not anymor

Organizing a general strike takes time. You need supports in place, otherwise people won't be able to participate because they NEED that money to survive.

Agreed. It's why I'm focusing locally on trying to build the supports one would need to survive whatever is coming, not to mention any sort of resistance efforts. It's good to hear people saying that it's something they're working towards, so people have their why and their goal in focus.
