This should be a default question for journalists to address in any story about anti-DEI, anti-“woke” stuff: what evidence is there that this particular effort isn’t just segregation by other means?

Since these people are literally using "woke" to mean "entertained the thought of hiring a Black person," opposition to DEI, affirmative action, etc. should be understood as support for segregation
