Setting up a boundary does not mean you are cruel or abusive. Telling an adult parent you are disappointed in their choices is not disrespectful. Refusing to be obliged to pay an unspecified debt you did not incur is not being ungrateful. Demanding respect does not make you a "spoiled brat."

Bonus: the "you owe me forever" thing is classic DARVO. The truth is that it's the parent that owes the infinite, unsettleable debt to the child, whose existence is fundamentally nonconsensual. (We can go back and ratify our parents' choices, of course, but we have no duty to do so.)
