The signatories include 10 department chairs, 7 center directors, and 13 distinguished professors from both public institutions like Rutgers, but also many from Princeton. There are more than a few professors of medicine and surgery.

There are also many early-career academics and those without tenure protections, including grad students. Their willingness to stand up is appreciated and welcomed. It is a difficult thing to do.

While we ask that the Senators use every tool at their disposal to defend higher education and the rule of law, our response is also going to have to be broader than that. I want my Senators to do more, but I have to do more. We all do.
