The reality is that oil is a sunset industry. Gas will survive for a long time as it's needed to make intermittent renewables viable.

Same problem when it comes to electric vehicles though. I just did a pile of research on lithium mining and it is very harmful to the environment.

I took a break from shouting at the TV to applaud that line.

Carney worked in a few good lines about a national electrical grid and renewable energy, but I find him entirely too comfortable with fossil fuels, and his rhapsodizing about developing the tar sands was cringeworthy.
