As goes secondary ed so goes higher ed. There are about to be some very suspect charter schools created, and $ funneled from public to religious schools. Higher ed has some sway, I think, at state level bc it can articulate some of the ways this shift might imperil college readiness.

And the incentive to do so isn’t just to ensure that students can succeed in college, but also defend against the growth of “lower ed” and Liberty Us eager to siphon students away from legit colleges.

In line with this, I think it's likely that AI merchants will flood primary and secondary education with 'edtech tools' that students will come to rely on, so that 5+ years from now, students will arrive not curious about AI but expecting to be able to use it.

at this point, it's either faculty senates or faculty unions, in league with students, telling the public what's getting torn down; I don't see anyone else trying to do this right now

Agree with this of course, though all my labor friends are very nervous about what new admin means for labor law, not just in our industry but across the board. We might be defending what we have rather than making new gains on unionization front

The FS at WVU was problematic, as I recall, and there was no stopping the steamroller, but the people resisting it really broke through into broader political discussions 🤷‍♂️
