Every time I hear someone say something like "the Civil Rights Movement didn't do x," I feel compelled to remind everyone that their image of the Civil Rights Movement is largely based on its activities in the south, in a place where merely being Black in public was an affront to the social order.

This is why actual history need to be taught, not History Lite™ that sanitizes the civil rights movement to a few speeches so Karens like Ana can spew ahistorical bullshit.
