If you're committed to equity, to access, to building as big a tent as possible, or even just including disabled people in your "movement" or your "revolution," you'll start using alt-text.

Also slows down hurried posting, which is a benefit in itself.
I turned on the alt-text alert setting LONG ago so I can always add alt-text to my posts' images... and have always felt a concern over others lacking turning that setting on.
I used to chalk it up to new user ignorance of settings.
