i have heard people say that it is racist, yet i have also seen and spoken to arab people who say that it isnt. i'm not really sure which side to really trust? ive never seen anyone have issue with me using that name and i use it because i think it sounds pretty

i'd suspect people are more mad about it because it somewhat feminizses alhaitham and makes him more cute and thats where their issue lies because i have spoken to someone who's arabic and they used hayi too so

that's probably it tbh. arabic culture is pretty strictly segregating the two sexes so unless they're like "woke" they would probably take issue with feminizing haitham... which is funny cause he's majorly autistic he probably doesn't even feel what a gender is

From what I know "Hayi" is a female name that has multiple meanings in Arabic and Hindu.

People started using it as a nickname for Alhaitham years ago because of some of these meanings and because it sounded cute iirc
