Don't worry I'm gonna be covering the council's astonishingly pointless vote to "reverse the defund the police movement," as Rob Saka put it, on the site; there's a lot going on today!

Is Saka a republican plant? Like, he is literally working through the steps of the Simple Sabotage Field Manual — distract the conversation , demand meetings/ forming committees; ignore the subject matter & inject your own agenda.
But with a side order of "call everything you don't like personally 'inequity' as if it's some kind of mic drop that will cause you to get what you want immediately, b/c that's how it works for progressives" (narrator: it does NOT work that way for progressives)
Not for Rob Saka, though: He found 12 minutes to repetitively inveigh against "the defund movement," "white saviors" he blames for (paying lip service to) reducing what we spend on police in 2020, and anyone in the Black community who disagrees with him, although he suggested they don't exist
Just to put a fine point on this: Not only did Saka imply the people protesting police violence in 2020 were not Black and brown, he erased five women of color on the council by calling the council "white saviors" and decrying the racial "composition of the council then."
It's true that there were no Black councilmembers at the time (and that now there are three), but it's just wild to call Kshama Sawant, Teresa Mosqueda, Tammy Morales, and Lorena González "white saviors" (Debora Juarez was the fifth WOC).
Saying people who showed up at councilmembers' houses during the 2020 protests were engaged in "hate" activity is quite a "resetting of the tone," as Maritza Rivera put it.
It's pretty ironic that this council promised to come in and take real action, not engage in performative grandstanding or meaningless resolutions. the fact they have apparently endless time to do just that says to me they have nothing more to accomplish, one year into their terms
I literally don't know who "taking responsibility, not selfies" (from Bob Kettle) is aimed at, but I will note as a fact check that Kettle takes plenty of selfies
We have talked about it on West Seattle Blog and here, and a few people with some apparent knowledge say they don't think there's sufficient grounds? IDK.
