I'm kinda okayish when talking.
Most of my "through the nose austrian accent" is gone. Can even say the th sound... 😅But writing? Holy moly, i need google for like every second word 🙈
I think the speaking part is what we’re struggling the most with in English class in France. We’re not learning to speak it. Only how to write it properly. At least it was like that 20 years ago. :(
In Germany and Austria, at least when I went to school, we were scold for having an accent when speaking 🙄
Once we had a guy who was from Canada and the teacher scold him for not speaking properly...
Never have I ever experienced this with native speakers...
Don’t sweat it. Speaking for my entire country for a minute (the ego on me huh?) we marvel at anyone who can speak two languages. Very few of us can. Many of us still struggle with English as a first language!! Your art is amazing! Big love from England!
Honestly I wonder how confusing English would be without the French grammar rules. I only started understanding English grammar when I took French in college.
The amount of times I type something just to delete it again, because I am not sure if what I wanted to say is accurately worded
(I love that this sentence was mostly made by predictive text lol)
Oh, don't, don't do it! I never thought you suck at Eng! Personally, I started learning when I was 6, I graduated with MA in Eng lit, I bloody TEACH the language and sometimes I feel like I suck at it. Pandemic deepened the feeling, but I'm slowly recovering from that and letting yolo attitude rule!
You do not suck at English, you have better grammar than me and I’m a Brit. Just remember that the British do unspeakable crimes against the French language regularly.
My high school French teacher suggested I skip the intermediate class and go straight from basic to advanced and your English is a hell of a lot better than my French.
You speak it great and frankly it’s an entire language more than 99% of English-speakers speak, so anyone who gives you flack about it can shove off! :)
Hehe it’s so funny to me because frankly I’m all impressed if most Americans can even speak well at our own language, nevermind pull out a simple “Bonjour!” And then you have multi-lingual people fretting that they aren’t using the proper English adverb. I promise you’re doing great!
Last time I had to speak to an English person, my first sentence to them was "Bwaaaah sorry, my English is just awful, I-", then they interrupted me, gave me a soft and gentle smile and said "I knooow, sweetheart, don't worry, that's ok".
I was this 🤏 close to cry like a child !
HXHDHDH I mean, as an European, learning a second language is mandatory at school but I wasn’t doing great 😂😂😂 internet taught me everythg I know in English
Yeah it’s kinda required in the states too. Except the only offered language (at least when I was in school) was Spanish and I……. Also didn’t do great 😅
Don’t beat yourself up, just remember that you’re doing better than most and you speak two languages.
Only write it. I can’t speak it tbh bc I rly tried to speak correct English during my trip to NY and ppl were SO CONFUSED 😭😂 most of them were kind and patient tho
