I keep saying we need to be on the same page... thinking more on that, there's a lot of room for differing ideas on a single page, just that all the ideas are heading toward a common goal.

Because that's not solidarity. I know folks may have a hard time wrapping their minds around this but there is NO 1 right way or solution and we do not even have to be in agreement or even like each other but we do have to work together and not get in each other's way.

There is no one size fits all solution to any of the issues we're facing, and it's going to take a multitude of approaches and require us to multitask our asses off something a lot of BIPOC have really mastered because our work is never with just us in mind but everyone else as well.

And it's not just for the sake of doing what's right for us and others, but having to acknowledge how all these issues intersect with one another and manifest/impact us differently and so it does require us to work in tandem with another even the work is very different.

Being able to argue and still have solidarity with each other is actually a unique skill I wish more people had.

One of my favorite people will argue fiercely and passionately with someone at the consensus collaboration table, and then have them over for family dinner.

Community & solidarity is NOT just a group of people you like as friends. Its neighbors, coworkers, etc who you wont always like.

Exactly!!! Solidarity work is hard as hell because some rifts run deep and some injuries can't be healed or made right but you still have to find ways to reconcile with them enough to be able to support each other, work together and find a way forward that doesn't cause further harm.

And it will get heated, feelings get hurt which is why the most important thing I think folks should learn when doing advocacy work of any kind is being able to leave the ego at the door and getting comfortable with being uncomfortable and uncentered because the work isn't about the I but the WE.

Communities under seige should not have time to hold allies' hands or worry about whether or not they are making allies comfortable enough or having to soothe them....allies should be self-sufficient, teachable and willing to learn and unlearn. It's hard and not for the easily rattled.

Yeah. Important to have distress tolerance (I definitely struggle with this) and understand people can disagree and really hate your idea but not hate you. And learn how to argue without being unnecessarily hurtful.

Yes lol and also know the difference between not taking something personal and understanding when you need to cuz you are the problem whether intentionally or unintenionally and how not to prioritize intent in that moment to fix the impact.
