I've spent my whole career avoiding asshole designers who are steeped in conservative ideals or who are openly apathetic to the plights of regular people. It's probably cost me wealth but it's preserved my soul.
I haven't worked in the bowels of Silicon Valley, so never actually had these conversations, but these are the people that definitely think accessibility is dumb and so is DEI
Design is the intentional solution to a problem within a set of constraints. Accessibilty is one of those constraints. If they don't like constraints, they should make an art project on dribbble where they won't have to worry about it working for pesky users.

At bare minimum, working as a designer is inherently capitalistic. If the economy is in shambles and nobody can afford to spend, you’re out of a job.
That’s to say nothing of your basic human rights.
But I guess this is what happens when invite a bunch of mainstream-ass-people to what was a niche/nerdy profession.
