I'm willing to give this game a shot, but having a price tag up front totally makes me skip.

Excited to try it out. Looking for a fresh PvP experience from Bungie. After playing consistently for 9-10 years, I can’t do Destiny PvP anymore. Primarily because I just don’t care. Went flawless multiple times and Got max comp rank multiple times. Not excited to play Trials or comp anymore.

I fear a lot of this debate is one sided simply because a majority of players excited to play will do so quietly. Compared to the normal outrage that seems to outnumber the positive players

Not really… Gambit is entirely PvE except when you invade/are invaded for 30ish seconds

Enemy players will be in your map world the entire time you’re playing this game. You’re never safe.

I don't think there's a AAA extraction shooter available on console at the moment? Tarkov is exclusive to PC - if Bungie really believes the genre has the potential to hook people, then any console player who likes FPS titles is their target audience.

Pretty sure the main factor is going to be the price tag.
Not sure console players want to buy a PvP game when they already have to pay for online and other multiplayer PvP games are free.
I expect Marathon is going to be more popular on PC by a fair margin. Bungie might expect this.

Didn't say I wanted to fail. Just think it's pretty obvious that it will. Bungie has burned a lot of good will these past few years and I honestly don't know who the audience for this game is supposed to be.

I’d expect it to be no worse than managing the stash in destiny. I’m not familiar about the audience split for Destiny (M&KB/Controller) but should be similar for Marathon and as playable. I’m thinking about stash management in Tarkov and how that would translate, for this comparison.

I tried Tarkov but didn't like the slow/methodical gameplay, and the inventory management felt like the actual game. I think Bungie will streamline that whole UI and looting experience to be intuitive and easy to perform, particularly on a controller? Everyone says the gunplay is great, as expected

I adore how this game looks! I also grew up on OG Marathon. But this game just feels way too punishing and hardcore for me. I was holding out hope that Bungie would try and make an extraction shooter for the masses (a casual version a la Blizzard). Sadly that doesn’t seem to be the case.

I would gladly pay $40 if the game was something I wanted to play. As a D2 PvE main there’s just not a lot to get excited about…there’s Bungie gunplay and that’s it. Solo casual seems to not exist. I also dislike the art direction to be honest. Feels like it’s trying too hard to differentiate itself

I was a PvP main for years in Destiny (which ofc meant I still played a lot of PvE for loot), reluctantly forced into PvE-only by Witch Queen onwards and the 3.0 era sandbox

Now I’m bored of PvE too and don’t see them innovating—if even Final Shape (which was good) didn’t satisfy me nothing will

I’ve been dying to jump ship from what I feel like is a game that overstayed its welcome without a sequel for years so I hope Marathon is great and I can stop playing Destiny, and that maybe my friends will play it some too

The thing that reads as strange to me is that they put so much work and marketing into the ARG (which was really good / interesting) but it doesn't align with the type of audience they seem to want to attract? I am hard-pressed to believe there were many Tarkov players getting hyped about the ARG.
