I like the point but also worry when we tout the successes of one illiberal regime to put down another... our project is different, right? Participatory democracy, economy that serves public interest and the protection of the natural world, freedom from tyranny, racism etc.
There's a lot we can do to clean up approval processes and get projects moving quicker. However, having a democratic and robust regulatory regime is a good thing, and I would rather things take time than sacrifice our democracy
I’m not a civil engineer but I’ve worked with some of the very best tunnel engineers on major projects. They think Musk is a joke: all the huff about reduced cost / increased speed of tunnelling is nonsense.
