What do you think a High Court Judge is going to do? Wave their magic gavel at a hearing and determine if there's coercion?

To determine if the applicant really wants to end their life, if they've been presented with alternatives, if they're not just going through a rough patch, if there are no subtle influences being brought to bear, can't be determined by a hearing.

It requires a thorough knowledge of the entire case.

This is why the judiciary is highly sceptical about the role they might be asked to play.

No High Court Judge would want to become a rubber stamp, and given the original proposal, that's what would have happened.

Whole bill needs to be scrapped completely. Don't mps ever study history? I'm no historian, just had a standard education when I was kid in the 1970s . Look into these more closely and see what happened in the past, and what is happening in others countries now?
