Can I ask you a question? When you look at your profile, does it say Following, Followers, Skeets? I ask because mine says Posts, so actually it is Bluesky who decided what they were called. Right? 🤔
You can call them chirps or clouds or tweets or skeets or douchebags, but until the word on your profile says anything other than Posts, they are posts. Pls unfollow/mute/block me if you want this argument to continue.
I teach in a prison. Kites are messages snuck to the recipient using a fairly elaborate relay system. Not sure this term works but I like it better than “skeet” which sounds like something #elonmusk would leave in his underwear. 🫣😳
Comics took balloons. Kites as in prison message isn't the first thing most would think of. Skeet is a reference to a clay pigeon target they use in skeet shooting or trap shoot. I can see how it was thought of because it's launched out of a spring loaded launcher into the sky.
What about ‘skybl’ (prounounced like Scribble without the R)?
The ‘skybler’ sent a ‘skybl’ @youranoncentral.bsky.social and suddenly everyone was ‘skybling’ in reply. The skyline was so long!

If everybody start to call it something else, it will become the official name after a while.
Be cool if that took off. 😁👍🏻

A skeet is an item thrown or slung as in skeet shooting.
The slang for tweet is meth smoking. So no award winner there either.
In my opinion.
